synonym

Muma pagoda generally refers to Kuifeng pagoda

Kuifeng pagoda is located in Shuangchong village, yushanpu Town, longhui County, Hunan Province. It is the earliest ancient pagoda in Shaoyang City, Kuifeng pagoda, also known as Muma pagoda. First built in Yuan Dynasty.

Development history

The tower was built in the Yuan Dynasty, the specific year is unknown. It's a pavilion style brick tower. The base of the tower is built with bluestone and the body of the tower is built with brick. It has five floors, 20 meters high, 7 meters bottom diameter and hollow. The original steps in the wall spiral up and are now destroyed. The eaves are short, the eaves angle is slightly warped, and there are four windows on each floor, crisscrossing each other. On the arched forehead of the bottom floor is a stone tablet engraved with the word "Kui Feng" in regular script, hence the name of the tower.

The origin of Kuifeng pagoda is still a thought-provoking story in the local area. It is said that in the past, the fan family in Shima village near the pagoda was rich and full of money. This was due to a geomantic gentleman who was blind because he saw the land too accurately. In order to repay Mr. Feng Shui, the fan family raised him. Over time, the disdainful descendants of the fan family began to dislike Mr. Feng Shui. In 1982, it was announced as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in Longhui County.
