Mashan Geopark

Mashan park is located in the western suburb of Jimo District, about 7 km. It is composed of four connected mountains, similar to Ma'anshan, also known as Ma'anshan. The southwest part of the mountain is in the form of columnar joints, straight and straight, closely arranged, like a dense forest, also known as "Mashan stone forest". With a total area of 7.74 square kilometers, the highest peak is 233.1 meters above sea level. There are abundant geological relics in the mountain, such as columnar joint stone column group, silicified wood group, sedimentary structure, contact metamorphic zone, etc., which were formed by magma pouring out of the surface about 100 million years ago. Geological relics are rich and unique, which have high scientific research and ornamental value. The geological circle is called "pocket Geological Museum".

Mashan Stone Forest

Mashan stone forest, located in the southwest of the mountain, is a columnar group of columnar jointed rocks with shallow and coarse volcanic rocks. With a height of 26 meters and a width of 150 meters, it is one of the three largest stone pillars in the world. It can be compared with the "giant dyke" and "devil's Tower" in England. Columnar joint group, mostly developed in basalt, is generally 5-prism or 6-prism. The Mashan joint column group is developed in andesite and is square, which is unique in geology

Silicified wood museum

Silicified wood is commonly known as fossil wood. Now, 26 places have been found and well preserved, with a diameter of about 0.1 meters and a height of 10 meters. Their shapes and textures are the same as those of trees. Its quantity and scale are rare in China. The largest one is discovered in 1983. It is 13 meters high, 0.8 meters in diameter at the thick end and 0.6 meters in diameter at the thin end. It belongs to the Cretaceous period. It has obvious transverse texture and clear annual rings. It is a new kind of silicified wood discovered in China and has important scientific research value.

Yunlong Lake

Yunlong Lake is located in the west of Mashan stone forest. Looking from north to south, it looks like a giant Cretaceous ridged dinosaur lying in the forest. The blue sky and white clouds on the top of the mountain and the lake at the bottom of the mountain are full of water. The combination of cloud, dragon and Lake creates a beautiful and magnificent landscape painting.

Contact metamorphic belt

The contact metamorphic rock belts are distributed in the east slope of Mashan mountain and under the top of Mashan mountain. It is a contact metamorphic belt (middle part) between volcanic rocks (upper layer) and sedimentary rocks (lower layer). Due to the intrusion of magma and the baking of surrounding rocks, different degrees of contact metamorphism took place in the strata of the contact zone, forming a dark contact metamorphic zone. The contact metamorphic rock belt, which is hundreds of meters long, is like a "black dragon", separating volcanic rock and sedimentary rock completely. It is extremely spectacular and has very high scientific research and ornamental value.

Forest experience area

The forest experience area provides visitors with under forest experience services, mainly planting clumps of American red maple, river birch and park trees, setting up characteristic wooden houses, and taking the form of Forest Club as the comprehensive reception service area of the whole park.

vegetation

The vegetation of Mashan mountain can be divided into four types: forest, shrub, meadow and crop vegetation. The forest coverage rate of suitable forest area is 50%, mainly coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest; the shrubs are mainly composed of small shrubs such as cotton locust, bamboo and sour jujube; the meadow is mainly composed of Gramineae, Compositae, Leguminosae and Cyperaceae, with the coverage rate of more than 90% of the meadow area.
