Brief introduction of Xieqin (Xieqin, NIMA township)

Applicant: bange County, Tibet Autonomous Region

The traditional song and dance "Xieqin" spread in NIMA township of bange county is refined and created by herdsmen in northern Tibet in their production and life.

Xieqinzhong's songs come from different songs, such as the salt song of ancestors when they came to northern Tibet to carry salt, the grain song when they went to southern Tibet to transport grain, the wool song when they sheared wool, the milk bucket song when they beat yoghurt, the mountain song praising mountains and rivers, the grazing song praising the fatness of cattle and sheep, and so on.

There are more than 100 traditional lyrics of Xieqin in NIMA Township, with more than 20 kinds of tunes and more than 20 kinds of dances. Such as "Nuo Bu Ding Chao", "Gu Dong", "Baza Xia Guo", "Zhuo Dong Ni", "O Ruo Xia Chu" and so on.

In the performance of NIMA rural Xieqin, the dancers stand in the shape of a circle, a half moon or a straight line. The dance moves are determined according to the lyrics, characteristics and rhythm of each song. The movements are bold and unconstrained, and the dance steps are light and powerful, which is full of the charm of northern Tibetan herdsmen dance. Although the movements of men and women are the same, the movements of women are small, subtle and gentle, while the movements of men are vigorous, unrestrained and natural.

The herdsmen in northern Tibet expressed their love and yearning for a better life by performing Xieqin in NIMA township.
