Introduction to Yicheng flower drum
Applicant: Yicheng County, Shanxi Province
Yicheng County, Shanxi Province, located in the south of Linfen City, Shanxi Province, has been the throat of Shaanxi Gansu in the West and Henan and Zhaoqing in the East since ancient times. Yicheng flower drum has a long history. On the plaque of Yicheng Yang ancestral hall, it reads: "Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty sits down in Chang'an City, and the people like it. Every year there is a lantern festival. The country is settled, the people are happy, the country is peaceful, the people are happy to welcome the spring, and the flower drum is full of enthusiasm." It was signed in the first month of the third year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty. "Yicheng County annals" contains: "in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, Empress Dowager Li returned to Yicheng to visit relatives and enjoy 3000 liang of flower drum silver." It can be seen that flower drum in Jicheng existed before Wanli of Ming Dynasty. Since the Qing Dynasty, Yicheng flower drum has become a routine performance form for people to celebrate the harvest and sacrifice their ancestors. The so-called "walking around the northwest and southeast of the city, you can hear the sound of flower drum everywhere" is a true reflection of this situation.
Yicheng flower drum has rough action, cheerful rhythm, warm mood and simple style. The main forms of performance are marching performance and square performance, as well as stage performance. Its musical instruments are relatively simple, including flower drum, big Su Gong (also known as "back flower Gong" or "big gong"), dull Gong (also known as "Dou Gong" or "Yin Gong"), small war drum (commonly known as "Jiu GuZi") and so on. Qupai includes "wuliushui", "hualiushui" and "wuchui". Most of the tunes are local folk songs, which are usually led by huagushou and nvmiaozi.
Yicheng flower drum has been handed down from generation to generation and has a long history. It is closely related to the production and life of the local people. It provides a precious historical material for future generations to understand the social changes and historical evolution of ancient Yicheng. At the same time, it is also one of the important research topics in the fields of musicology and folklore. Excavation, arrangement and protection of Yicheng flower drum will play a positive role in further enriching folk dance.
