The song and dance of Lisu nationality "a Chi Mu Gua" means "the song and dance of goat" or "the song tune of learning goat's cry". It is popular in Tongle and Xinle area of Yezhi Town, Weixi Lisu Autonomous County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a traditional folk song and dance for self entertainment.
In the history of Weixi, the transportation was closed, Lisu People had little contact with the outside world, and the mode of production was basically in the stage of half farming and half grazing. Goat is a necessary animal for every family, and it is closely related to the life of Lisu People in Weixi. "A Chi Mu Gua" is also related to goats, which is a vivid expression of the traditional production, life, thoughts and feelings of Lisu People in Weixi.
The costumes of the dancers of "a Chi Mu Gua" are very unique. According to Yu Qingyuan's records of Weixi in the Qing Dynasty, when performing "a Chi Mu Gua", the male wore a hairpin in a bun and braided wheat straw as tassels in the hair, often wearing a Peli blade. Women's hair is tied with hoops, and their collars are coiled and their skirts and trousers are tied. Nowadays, this kind of unique clothing is rare, and now the Lisu People in Yezhi town still keep "weaving wheat straw as tassels in the hair" in the "a Chi Mu Gua" performance.
"A Chi Mu Gua" dance has a lively and unrestrained form, unique style, and basically maintains the traditional folk art form. At present, some traditional dance routines only some old people can dance, facing the inheritance crisis.
