Introduction to Dongjing music (Miaoshan studies women's Dongjing music)
Applicant: Tonghai County, Yunnan Province
Dongjing music is mainly popular among the Han, Bai and Naxi people in Yunnan Province. It was originally a kind of Taoist ritual music and got its name from chanting the scriptures of the great Dongxian Sutra. Its music tunes are very rich, each region has an independent set of various tunes, ranging from 40 to more than 100.
Tonghai Cave Classic music spread in Tonghai County, Yunnan Province, with Xiushan town and Hexi Town as the center, and spread to Jiujie, Yangguang, Sijie and other towns. In the past 20 years, it has been widely spread in the whole county. Dongjing ancient music rose in the Yuan Dynasty, was officially founded in the early Ming Dynasty, and began to flourish in the late Ming Dynasty. It is not a single folk music, which also includes the northwest, Jiangnan music and playing skills. Among the existing hundreds of Dongjing performing teams in Yunnan, Tonghai Miaoshan women's Dongjing (Ancient Music) class is the most outstanding.
Tonghai Miaoshan learning women's Dongjing (Ancient Music) class was founded in 1943. The class is composed of 18 girls. They bravely broke through the shackles of feudal ethics and established Tonghai Miaoshan learning women's Dongjing Association. After two years of study, they have mastered gongchi score and simplified score, and can skillfully play more than 40 pieces of Qupai. In 1947, after they performed the Sutra in Sanyuan palace, they took the performance into the folk ceremony of offering sacrifices to Buddha. They have followed each other for more than 60 years. In September 2001, Miaoshan learned women's Dongjing music was invited to perform in Beijing, which attracted wide attention.
The repertoire of the women's Dongjing meeting includes 39 pieces, including "xiaokaimen", "Yinyang tune", "zhegutian" and "dieluoqian", which can be divided into classical music, Jiangnan Silk and bamboo music and folk music. On the basis of inheriting the tradition of Tonghai music performance, Miao Shanxue women's Dongjing music fully shows the unique charm of women's performance. When it accompanies religious ceremony, it shows enthusiasm in seriousness and charity in piety; when it sings, it is crisp in excitement and sweet in ease; when it performs, it wins with delicate, delicate, lingering and tactful artistic style. The performance of women's Dongjing meeting added new vitality to Tonghai Dongjing ancient music and had a great influence in the local area. For many years, this special form of music performance has been passed down in Tonghai folk.
As the only women's Dongjing organization in Yunnan Province, Miaoshan women's Dongjing association is the first for women to play Dongjing. It preserves the procedure and content of Dongjing performance, and provides important materials for the study of Yunnan local history, culture and folk art. At present, there are only four people left in Tonghai Miaoshan women's Dongjing (Ancient Music) class. The survival of women's Dongjing music is difficult and its development is hindered, so it is urgent to protect and inherit it.
