Dragon Boat Song, also known as "singing dragon boat" or "dragon boat" for short, is a popular form of folk art in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province. It is generally believed that it was formed in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It is said that it was created by a broken son of Longjiang in Shunde. The form of performance is one or two people beating gongs or drums for intermittent accompaniment singing, short voice, high ups and downs, humorous and interesting, full of catharsis effect. The basic sentence pattern of libretto is seven character verse, with four sentences as a group. The tone is simple and fluent, full of local flavor, suitable for narrative Lyric. The program is rich in content, covering almost everything from fairy tales, folktales to current events and news. However, due to the lack of literacy of folk artists, and most of them are word of mouth, not many of them have been handed down.

Most of the Dragon Boat songs in history were performed by artists from all walks of life. It is easy to find them in major national festivals or various festive occasions.
