Juancheng brick sculpture is a traditional sculpture art founded and inherited by Xie family in juancheng County, Shandong Province. During the reign of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, Xie Guangfang, a native of juancheng, created a unique brick molding technique through repeated practice. From Xie Guangfang to Xie Zhenqian and now to Xie Xueyun, juancheng brick sculpture has been inherited in Xie family for three generations. The unique Xiejia brick sculpture in juancheng maintains the characteristics of traditional folk kneading and earthenware crafts, with ingenious and complete conception, simple and frank technique, clear and orderly arrangement, clear and smooth lines, vivid and vivid modeling, and reveals strong local flavor and folk sentiment. The decorative components of temples, ancestral halls and other buildings made by Xie Jia's brick molding technique are widely spread in eastern Shandong and Western Henan, and are famous for thousands of miles. Juancheng brick sculpture mainly includes opera brick sculpture and flower and bird brick sculpture. In the overall creation, the former takes a larger proportion. The creators often choose opera stories loved by the masses, and integrate ideology into aesthetic creation by whipping evil, sycophantic and ugly things.
