Introduction to Bulang folk song (playing and singing of Bulang Nationality)
Applicant: Menghai County, Yunnan Province
Bulang Nationality is a nationality with a long history. It mainly lives in Menghai Jinghong County of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in western Yunnan, Shuangjiang, Yongde, Yun, Gengma and Lancang and Mojiang counties of Simao. There are many tunes and rich contents in Bulang folk songs, which can be divided into labor songs, custom songs, migration songs, hate songs, hymns, love songs, children's songs and other short songs, long lyric poems, narrative poems and so on.
Playing and singing of Bulang Nationality is a popular form of folk song among Bulang people. It is mainly popular in Bulang Mountain Township, Xiding Township, Daluo Town, Mengman town and other Bulang inhabited areas in Menghai County of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. It originated from the singing of the ancestors of Bulang Nationality and was formed by absorbing Dai music on the basis of Bulang folk music.
There are five basic tunes of Blang people's playing and singing, including "Suo", "Shen", "tug", "Zai" and "tuanman". Among them, "Suo" is the most colorful. It includes five tunes, which are either joyful and jumping, or slow and deep, with different styles. Because "Suo" tune is accompanied by Bulang traditional musical instrument, it is called "Bulang playing and singing". "Sokricro" in "Suo" tune is a melody of love, which is mostly used to sing warm love and express young men and women's yearning for a better life in the future. Generally speaking, men and women sing to each other. Men sing while playing the four stringed piano, while women sing with corresponding words. The singing is mellow and euphemistic, the melody is sweet and beautiful, and the lyrics mostly reflect the love between men and women.
It is mainly used in major festivals, weddings, funerals, weddings and other occasions. The singing involves the migration history, production knowledge, sacrifice and other contents of the nationality. In addition, it can also sing some folk songs, love songs, labor life and children's songs. In recent years, the theme content of Blang people's singing and playing has been greatly expanded, adding some content to show social progress and the emergence of new people and new things. His representative works include "happy brown", "two flowers as fragrant", "how beautiful the moon is tonight" and so on.
Playing and singing of Bulang Nationality has not only become an indispensable part of Bulang people's life. At present, due to the impact of foreign culture and the limitation of traditional customs such as women's inability to sing in public places after marriage, there are fewer and fewer inheritors of Blang nationality's singing and playing, so it is urgent to take effective measures to protect them.
