Zhenba County is located in the southernmost part of Shaanxi Province, where folk songs have a long history and are the wealth accumulated by Zhenba people for thousands of years. Its folk songs are rich in content, and more than 4000 songs have been collected.
Zhenba folk songs are mainly divided into labor songs, folk songs, Maoshan songs, ditty songs, folk songs, sacrificial songs and so on. There are two kinds of labor Chants: one is the chant that unifies the rhythm of labor, such as pulling stone chant, ramming chant, etc.; the other is the chant that regulates labor mood, such as carrying second brother chant, etc. when singing, they are mostly improvised, often leading the crowd and having a unique momentum. Folk songs are mostly about love, including solo, chorus, duet and so on. The male voice usually sings with high pitched and loud voice, and the female voice also sings with flat voice, which is bold and bold, and has free rhythm. The female voice sings with flat voice, which is lingering, euphemistic and delicate. The representative songs include "Da Xian Tao", "Xiao Jiao Er Hong Xiu Xie", "the sun sets on four hills" and so on. The minor generally adopts the form of multi paragraph narration, with complete libretto, among which the works with chapters are represented by Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, Shiliting, Shixiang, Shiquan, etc. Folk songs are mainly sung in local folk activities, including wedding songs such as "Crying Marriage song" and "mother training daughter", funeral songs such as "filial piety song", and songs used for birthday celebration, house building and other occasions such as "birthday worship" and "auspicious house building".
Zhenba folk songs are mostly composed of single section, with four or five tone modes, followed by Yu, Shang and Gong modes. Its melody is elegant and simple, and its lyrics are full of romantic fantasy. The accompaniment instruments include a homemade sheepskin drum, a large Gong, a cloud Gong and a cymbal.
The language of Zhenba folk songs is simple, natural and fluent. It not only records the local historical process, living conditions and customs, but also carries the task of publicizing the moral standards and popularizing labor skills, thus becoming an important tool for promoting education. Zhenba folk songs are popular among the local people. At present, the number of people singing folk songs in Zhenba is decreasing, and there is a fault in the inheritance, so it is urgent to invest a lot of manpower and material resources to repair.
