Introduction to Huizhou Folk Songs:

Applicant: Huangshan City, Anhui Province

Huizhou Folk Songs originated in Tunxi, Huizhou and Huangshan districts of Huangshan City, Anhui Province, and four counties of she, she, Xiuning and Qimen, and spread in Jixi, Jingde, Shitai and other counties in ancient Huizhou and parts of neighboring provinces.

Similar to other parts of the country, Huizhou Folk songs were also formed in the labor production of the ancestors, and the earliest appeared should be labor songs. In addition, Huizhou Folk Songs include folk songs, ditty, song and dance, as well as some Buddhist and Taoist songs. At the end of 1970s and the beginning of 1980s, Huizhou music workers deeply explored Huizhou Folk Songs and sorted out a large number of excellent repertoires, such as guessing riddles and duels, herding cattle and flower drum, xiaoshiqiao, etc. Over the past 20 years, Huizhou Folk songs have been displayed in front of people one after another and have been widely recognized.

The labor songs in Huizhou Folk songs are often called "shouhaozi" by local people. For example, in she County folk songs, there are only four words of "Yiya, Heke" in the whole song. The music is bold, firm and powerful with a strong flavor of life. The lyrics of folk songs are often improvised. The music rhythm is relatively free, the tone is long, and the free extended tone is often used. Huizhou folk tunes are especially characteristic, such as crying sedan chair, picking up the room, toasting, making a cup, withdrawing the account and so on, which are closely coordinated with the wedding ceremony. As a product of Huizhou culture, Huizhou Folk songs have various research values, which can provide vivid examples for the exploration of Huizhou social history, folk customs and regional culture.

At present, there are fewer and fewer people in Huizhou who can sing the original ecological folk songs, and there are no activities such as concerts to regularly display the art of folk songs. Some young people do not even know the local folk songs. In this situation, Huizhou Folk songs are facing the crisis of lost, and it is urgent to take effective rescue and protection measures.
