Introduction to the temple fair
Applicant: Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province
The Seventh Festival of zhangshanzhai is a folk religious activity held by zhangshanzhai, Zhaoxu village, Huyuan Township, Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province on the seventh day of the lunar calendar.
Zhang Shanzhai's July 7th meeting began in the early years of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. The Xianshan temple in zhangshanzhai is dedicated to the influential local god Chen Niangniang, which is widely believed in by the people in southern Zhejiang and Fujian. It is said that the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh lunar month is Chen's fourteenth birthday. On this day every year, the local people come here to hold the grand Zhang Shanzhai July 7th meeting.
Zhangshanzhai qiqihui followed the customs established in the early years of Wanli in Ming Dynasty. Its activities were divided into the following forms and procedures: setting up a "case altar", going to the village to welcome the sedan chair, touring and praying for blessings, offering opera, guarding the night, performing the case, worshiping and returning to the original position, etc.
During the meeting, all kinds of ancient folk performances with unique styles competed here, and the audience was like a tide. In addition to the local people, there are also believers from Zhejiang, Fujian and Taiwan provinces.
Zhang Shanzhai's Qiqi society is prosperous because of people's belief in Chen Shishi. The organization of the activities followed the management system of the main village in the Ming Dynasty, that is, the village on duty presided over the activities.
The project covers the fields of belief, folk custom, folk art and so on. It is of great significance to inherit the fine tradition of the Chinese nation, enhance the cohesion of the Chinese nation and promote the reunification of the motherland. It also has the folklore value of traditional festival culture research.
