Xuzhou suona is most representative in Fengxian, Peixian, Suining and urban areas of Xuzhou. As the water transport hub of Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, suona entered Xuzhou folk music life in Ming Dynasty.

Xuzhou suona has many repertoires and rich contents. The representative tunes can be summed up in eight words: "Yaojin Fandiao" and "Sanling Silai". "Yaojinfandiao" refers to "liujinyao" and "fanzidiao"; and "Sanling Silai" refers to "jiangjunling", "Desheng Ling", "huimaling" and "to Chunlai", "to xialai", "to qiulai" and "to Donglai".

Suona has a profound historical and cultural foundation in Xuzhou. In 1952, Xuzhou established "Xuzhou Folk Music Association", which gathered many suona players. In 1956, in the "East China folk music and dance show" held in Shanghai, the folk suona team established by Xuzhou made a great success in the public performance, which left a deep impression on the Organizing Committee and the audience.

Xuzhou suona has a unique artistic effect in leading, accompaniment or ensemble with gongs and drums. It is usually used in folk song blowing, Yangko, drum class, opera, song and dance performances. Xuzhou suona is suitable for the performance of warm, happy atmosphere and majestic, magnificent scenes, especially the bold and uninhibited, pungent tune, which has a shocking effect. At the same time, it can deeply and delicately express the inner thoughts and feelings, vividly imitate the singing of birds and insects, giving people the beauty of three days.

In recent years, this form of folk music is in danger of being lost due to lack of successors, so it needs to be rescued and protected.
