Couplet custom originated from the antithesis phenomenon of ancient Chinese. In the Western Jin Dynasty (about 290 years), couplets with strict rules appeared, which can be regarded as an important sign of its formation. In the process of more than 1700 years of historical transmission, couplets, parallel Fu, rhymed poetry and other traditional literary forms have influenced and learned from each other. Through the three important periods of development in the Northern Song Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, the forms have become increasingly diverse and the cultural accumulation has gradually enriched. Couplets are commonly known as couplets, Li Ci, couplets, etc.

Couplets with "Vice" as the quantifier, generally with two lines of sentences as a pair, side by side display, read from top to bottom, first right to left, right for the upper couplet, left for the lower couplet.
