Introduction to paper cutting (Helingeer paper cutting)
Applicant: Helingeer County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Helingeer County is located in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, where nomadic economy and farming economy coexist for a long time, forming a unique regional development landscape of nomadic culture and farming culture. Helingeer paper-cut was widely spread in this land. It was created by working women. It was deeply rooted in grassland and absorbed the content of Central Plains farming culture.
Helingeer paper-cut has a long history. It is closely related to the local social customs and penetrates into the clothing, food, housing and transportation of the majority of farmers and herdsmen. A large number of works reflect the ancient cultural traditions of Helingeer area for thousands of years, and vividly show the contents of Helingeer festival customs, life rituals, funeral customs, religious taboos and so on.
Helingeer paper-cut is natural, primitive, romantic and majestic, reflecting the simple and forthright, warm and frank emotional temperament of the Northern Nationality. The brilliant and outstanding paper-cut artists of Helingeer vividly show the ancient customs, social consciousness and patterns that have been handed down in the local area for a long time. With the development of society, people's production and lifestyle change rapidly, and the living environment of Helingeer paper-cut deteriorates sharply. There is no inheritance, so it is urgent to strengthen the protection.
