Brief introduction of Yao people's song playing hall:
Applicant: Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province
Liannan Yao Autonomous County of Qingyuan City, located in the northwest of the mountainous area of northern Guangdong Province, is the only place where Pai Yao people live and where shuogetang is popular. Shuogetang is a large-scale cultural activity of Yao nationality, which is mainly popular in Paiyao villages in six towns, including sanpai (including Nangang), woshui, Daping, Xiangping (including Panshi) and Sanjiang (including Jinkeng). The specific manifestations include ancestor worship, chugetang, Guozhou dance, long drum dance, Yao song singing and duel, Fazhen performance, chasing black face people, etc. According to historical records, in the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), there was a complete shuoge hall in the heyday of Pai Yao, which has a history of more than 600 years.
Shuoge hall is a folk grand gathering of Paiyao people in Liannan to commemorate their ancestors, recall history, celebrate the harvest, reward their wishes, spread knowledge and mass entertainment activities. Dage hall lasts for three days, once every three or five years; Xiaoge hall lasts for one day, once every two or three years, on the birthday of Pangu Wangpo on October 16 of the lunar calendar. Paiyao have no national characters, so shuogetang has become an important carrier of cultural exchange and historical inheritance. The Yao scriptures handed down by shuoge hall provide strong evidence for the ethnic origin of Pai Yao, and provide sufficient materials for the shaping time of Yao division and the study of Pai Yao's folk beliefs and Yao scriptures creation. In addition, the Yao Scripture also reflects the battle of Lingnan in ancient times, which has high historical research value of ethnology, sociology and folklore. In addition, the exquisite headgear, accessories, gorgeous costumes, unique long drum dance and master dance, as well as the folk musical instruments such as ox horn, Causeway, suona, mang flute, may Xiao and flute used by Yao people in shuoge hall have strong national artistic style and high artistic value. During the "Cultural Revolution", Shuagetang was once imprisoned. It was not until the end of 1980s that Shuagetang was initially restored.
