Brief introduction of Mongolian Boke
Applicant: Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
"Boke" is Mongolian, which means wrestling. It is one of the "three male arts" of the Mongolian nationality and belongs to the traditional Mongolian sports. Boke has a history of nearly two thousand years. It began to be popular in the early Western Han Dynasty, widely developed in the Yuan Dynasty, and developed unprecedentedly in the Qing Dynasty. Now it is popular in all parts of Mongolia Autonomous Region, especially in Xilinguole League, Tongliao City, Hulunbeier City, Bayannaoer City, Ordos City, Alxa League and other places.
The competition form of boxing is simple and solemn. According to the traditional Mongolian requirements, the contestants wear "zhuodege" (tight half sleeve cantilevers) made of cowhide or canvas, bare arms covering the back, "zhuodege" is inlaid with copper nails or silver nails on the edge, a round silver mirror or "auspicious" in the middle of the back, a "Zeri Buge" (apron) made of red, blue and yellow silk on the waist, and a 32 foot or 16 foot white cloth on the lower body The "banzele" jacket is a pair of trousers embroidered with various animal or flower patterns, and the shoes are Mongolian or horse boots. The neck of the winner is matched with a "jiangga" (collar) made of five color colored silk. It is a symbol of how many times a boxer wins. The more times he wins, the more colorful silk strips on the "jiangga".
Boke competition starts with the melodious and passionate praise of "uriya". There is no special requirement for the competition venue. It can be held on a flat grass or soil ground. The contestants waved their strong arms and danced in imitation of lions, deer and eagles. The rules of the competition are simple and clear, and there is no time limit. The contestants are regardless of their weight. It is negative for any part above the knee to touch the ground.
Wrestling requires the coordination of waist and leg movements, and fully shows their strength and skills in the confrontation. Engaged in boxing can develop strength, sensitivity, speed, endurance and other aspects of physical quality, and cultivate people's wit, courage, tenacity and other will character. Now, Boke has become a way of entertainment for Mongolian farmers and herdsmen after a day's hard work, and it is also an important part of "Nadam".
