Jiacuo is a primitive folk dance formed by Mosuo people in their long-term production practice and living customs. It has been widely spread in Lugu Lake and its surrounding areas for a long time. Its origin can be traced back to the stone age, and is closely related to the primitive religion of Mosuo, Daba religion, production, hunting and war.

Jiarou means dancing or Guozhuang dance. Jiarou means dancing for a better time. Jiarou means dancing for a better time. This kind of dance has a bright rhythm and strong and rough steps. Usually, it starts with the lead dancer who plays flute or Lusheng. The partners face the fire, hold their arms tightly, cross their fingers, and dance counter clockwise. The dance steps change with the speed of the music.

It is said that there are 72 kinds of original tunes and dances in jiarou, and only more than 10 kinds of them have been handed down so far, such as "roude", "Le Rou you", "Ge Mu Rou", "ashsalle Rou", "Wo Cao Jia Mo Mu". Jiarou is mainly a group performance, which is closely combined with song, dance and music. The melody of the dance music is beautiful, and the dance steps are changeable. It is a combination of ornamental, lyrical, interesting and participatory. It is full of a strong sense of history and life.

As a living fossil of primitive song and dance art, jiarou fully shows the wisdom of the ancestors of Mosuo.
