Introduction to Zhongfan (Zhengding Gaozhao)

Zhongfan is an ancient folk art in China, mainly distributed in Xianghe County, Zhengding County, Hebei Province and Jian'ou City, Fujian Province. It originated in the Tang and Song Dynasties and has a history of more than 1000 years. Zhongfan is composed of flag pole, umbrella, flag, flag face and bell. It has more than ten routines and more than fifty movements. It integrates modeling, appearance and other difficult skills, and has certain entertainment.

Gaozhao, also known as "Zhongfan", originated before the Republic of China, is a representative and important project of Zhengding folk flower show, which has a history of more than 100 years. The main props used by Gao Zhao are thick bamboo materials, which vary in length and strength. The heaviest one is 72 kg. Before the performance, the bamboo pole was wrapped with dragon and Phoenix flags, two flower umbrellas were erected on it, and ten pheasant plumes were inserted on the top of the pole as decorations. Gaozhao mainly performs in traditional festivals and happy agricultural leisure time. During the performance, several men usually take turns to perform. The performers use bamboo poles to make various movements on their bodies. The main routines include tota, panelbow, ertiao, shuangwuhua, danwuhua, dry land plucking onion, sun houbeijian, erlangdanshan, tiger Pui tail, cross basket and so on. The performance was accompanied by drums, music and gongs, as well as colored flags and bamboo flags. Its movements are flexible and exciting.

Gaozhao is a representative program of Zhengding folk flower show in Hebei Province, which has strong regional characteristics. It has developed into its own characteristics in more than 100 years of practice and has high artistic value.
