Introduction to silk string

Applicant: Wugang City, Hunan Province

Sixian is a kind of folk art with a singing history of more than 400 years. Wugang string is mainly spread in Shaoyang, longhui, Dongkou, Chengbu, Xinning and other places with Wugang as the center. It is a unique and important part of Hunan quyi.

Wugang Sixian tune is soft and greasy, euphemistic, elegant and lyrical. Most of them express women's sad feelings in feudal times, and they also have funny and humorous contents. Among Wugang's silk strings, dududui Gudeng, Duzuo xiulou, qigrape, Yuediao, Qiujiang and shuangxiashan are very representative. According to historical records such as Wugang Prefecture records, Wugang string was formed in the Ming Dynasty. After being summarized and processed by artists, it formed a unique artistic style and was widely sung. Later, due to social changes and the impact of foreign culture, Wugang silk string is on the verge of extinction.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Cultural Department of the government has repeatedly excavated and sorted out Wugang silk string music, Wugang silk string music and Wugang folk silk string music collection. Wugang City attaches great importance to the rescue and protection of Wugang Sixian, and has set up Wugang Sixian Research Association to allocate special funds for the research of this folk art. In 2007, Wugang City duliangfeng song and dance troupe was established to sing, inherit and protect Wugang silk string art. Wugang silk string, a unique folk art, will be inherited and developed.
