A brief introduction to Huatuo Wuqinxi
Applicant: Bozhou City, Anhui Province
Hua Tuo's Wuqinxi originated in Bozhou. It is a set of health preserving techniques created by Hua Tuo, a great medical scientist in the Eastern Han Dynasty, according to the movement rules of Yin Yang and five elements, visceral images, meridians, Qi and blood in traditional Chinese medicine, observing the posture of animals, and using the images and movements of tigers, deer, apes, bears, birds and other animals.
Hua Tuo's creation of Wuqinxi was first recorded in the biography of Hua Tuo in the annals of the Three Kingdoms by Chen Shou of the Western Jin Dynasty. Tao Hongjing, a famous doctor in the northern and Southern Dynasties, introduced the specific actions of Wuqinxi. It was very popular in the Sui, Tang, song and Yuan Dynasties. Sun Simiao, Liu Zongyuan, Lu You and others discussed or described the mechanism of Wuqinxi and the practice scene at that time. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the development was faster and the number of monographs increased. During the period of the Republic of China, Huatuo Wuqinxi mainly spread in xiaohuazhuang, the hometown of Huatuo in Bozhou, and the surrounding areas. Lu Wuju, Dong Wenhuan, Liu Shirong and other generations have continuously carried forward Wuqinxi.
Huatuo Wuqinxi truly reflects the development and changes of Chinese people's fitness culture, creates the sports medical precedent of curing diseases and fitness, shows the profound aesthetic connotation of health philosophy and Taoist culture, and has important historical value and health care value.
