Zhejiang's bamboo weaving handicraft production is concentrated in Dongyang and Shengzhou, especially Dongyang, which is known as "the hometown of hundred workers" and "the hometown of Arts and crafts". Dongyang bamboo weaving is mainly based on three-dimensional weaving, combined with plane weaving skills. It has fine workmanship, vivid modeling and elegant color. It has strong folk art characteristics, fully reflecting the style of Dongyang bamboo culture. Dongyang bamboo weaving products can be divided into two categories, one is living utensils, mainly for practical functions; the other is three-dimensional furnishings and architectural decoration, mainly for art appreciation. From 1958 to 1978, Dongyang bamboo weaving factory was merged into Dongyang wood carving factory. Bamboo weaving and wood carving were produced together, exchanged and promoted with each other, and made great progress in theme, modeling, color setting, taste and style.

Dongyang bamboo weaving is good at weaving three-dimensional figures, animals, traditional bamboo baskets and other utensils. Hand cut bamboo strips are as thin as hair thread and as soft as silk. They are carefully woven and lifelike. Basket, basket, box, basket, dustpan, basket, hat and other daily necessities are the most common bamboo weaving products in Dongyang. They are combined with gilding, printing, carving and other decorative techniques to perfectly show the charm and cultural taste of bamboo, which has high artistic value and folk craft research value. At present, the aging trend of Dongyang bamboo weaving inheritors is obvious, the average age is over 40 years old, and the number of young people who learn bamboo weaving technology is relatively small, which leads to the lack of successors of Dongyang bamboo weaving, and the inheritance is in trouble, which needs urgent protection and rescue.
