Maqiao "hand lion dance" is also called "hand lion dance", commonly known as "tune lion", "lion lamp", mainly spread in Maqiao town.
The performance of hand lion dance is very different from other lion dances. It is performed by the lion dancers with their hands respectively. The lion props vary in size. The big lion is danced by two people, the middle lion and the little lion are danced by one person. When performing, it is usually a big lion, four middle lions and two little lions.
Hand lion dance is a combination of lantern color, dance and other folk arts with strong artistry. The hand lion dance in Maqiao area not only draws on the basic skills of the dragon dance, such as rolling, winding and falling, but also inherits the performance style of other lion dances. In the old days, in order to adapt to the narrow streets and low eaves on both sides of the town, hand lion dance in the "street" performance, in order to avoid collision, and formed a "squat" based on the horizontal movement, straight forward, close around the lion and other unique style of dance movements.
