Brief introduction of lacquerware painting technique (Yangjiang lacquerware painting technique)
Applicant: Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province
Yangjiang lacquerware is one of the "three treasures of Yangjiang". The production of Yangjiang lacquerware was not later than the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. Due to its coastal location and the influence of marine culture, it has some differences from the traditional techniques and patterns in the mainland, such as the preparation of paints and the painting of patterns.
During the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty, Yangjiang lacquerware had a great influence in the whole country. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the products were not only large in quantity, but also had a high level of technology. At the same time, it was unique because of the use of "cashew nut lacquer" developed by Yangjiang. Lacquerware products are sold to Southeast Asia, even Europe and America. Yangjiang lacquerware is famous for its traditional hand-made leather products, among which leather cases and pillows are the most popular. Traditional patent leather products are characterized by light weight, firmness, durability, water resistance, moisture resistance, alkali resistance, heat resistance, wear resistance, atmospheric erosion resistance, high hardness, brightness, rich paint film, etc. if it is not exposed to strong light, it has the advantages of no deformation and no fading for a long time. In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the overseas Chinese were proud to own lacquer products such as Yangjiang lacquer cases, and lacquer products became an important export commodity in Yangjiang area.
Yangjiang traditional hand-made leather, paper and cloth lacquerware products require high raw materials, high cost and complex process. With the rise of all kinds of new material products, lacquerware products are impacted by new substitutes, and the market is shrinking day by day. In addition to the change of aesthetic pursuit, the traditional lacquerware products are rejected. At present, there are only a few artists who know how to make traditional leather bodied lacquerware products by hand, and most of them have no successors. Lacquerware technology is on the verge of being lost, so it is urgent to strengthen protection.
