Introduction to badang dance
Applicant: Min County, Gansu Province
Badang dance, formerly known as "bofuwu", originated from the ancient Qiang people's "mountain Festival", is a traditional dance popular in Zhongzhai Town, Min County, Gansu Province. In the past, farmers living in Zhongzhai, Weixin and other villages along the North Road of Minxian County used to perform badang dance to sacrifice the mountain god in the first month, and prayed for the mountain god's blessing in the form of singing and dancing.
Badang dance mainly consists of three parts: 1. Under the leadership of "chunba", the men in this village, waving the long handle "badang drum", line up to sing and dance, with a total of 9 lyrics and 9 dance steps; 2. This is the most important part of the badang dance. In this paragraph, "chunba" lights a bonfire, leads the dancers to "worship the five sides", and then sings and dances under the newly established swing. There are 12 verses in this process; 3. All the dancers began to eat, drink, taste tea and sing in chorus. (in the above paragraphs, all songs are sung in Tibetan.)
Badang dance contains the cultural gene of Chinese civilization. It is a living fossil of the historical development, cultural blending and evolution of the Border Nationalities in China. At present, badang dance is still well spread in the local area, retaining a complete set of procedures. However, due to the change of people's life style, this kind of traditional song and dance with high cultural and artistic value and folk research value has no successor.
