Yangzhou Pinghua, also known as "Weiyang Pinghua" or "Pingci", is a folk art performance performed by one person with folding fans and handkerchiefs as props and expressed in Yangzhou dialect. It is popular in Northern Jiangsu, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Shanghai, Anhui and other places. The form is a person sitting behind the table, with folding fans, handkerchiefs and other props, speaking and acting in Yangzhou dialect. Since the middle of the 20th century, there have been cases of standing without props. At the same time, the use of gestures, posture, pace, eyes, facial expression pay attention to the demonstration of "virtual spirit", the description of the characters emphasize the spirit in the emotion, not the pursuit of shape. It is well known for its meticulous description, rigorous structure, echo from beginning to end, complicated and well-organized clue, rich plot details, distinctive characters and vivid and interesting language expression.
