Erguxian is an ancient opera that has been rediscovered in recent years. It originated in dasima village, Wuzhi County, Henan Province, and only spread locally. It was formed in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. After hundreds of years of development and evolution, it reached maturity in the early 19th century. Daoguang 21 years (1841) the Yellow River roll river diversion, dasima village is no longer the former flood and drought wharf, business plummeted, affected by this, the two strands are also declining, good scenery is no longer. During the "Cultural Revolution", only five local erhu Xianban troupes were closed down, and this unique local opera almost disappeared. It was not until 1993 that the erhuxian troupe in dasima village was restored.

There are 18 types of bans and Qupai, including the remains of Beiqu Xiansuo and the banqiang operas such as Wuban, baban and Sanban. There are more than 100 kinds of plays performed by Er Gu Xian, most of which are based on folk life stories. Among them, Hongyan Zhuanshu, Lei Gongzi touqin, An'an songmi and Meng Jiangnu are representative works. Due to long-term self rehearsal and self performance in rural areas, er Gu Xian is quite different from many popular operas, showing strong local characteristics and obvious folk characteristics.
