Tibetan blanket is a traditional handicraft of Tibetan people in Qinghai. After more than 3000 years of inheritance, Qinghai has gradually formed a Tibetan carpet weaving industry with local characteristics. Due to historical and geographical reasons, there are differences in weaving skills and pattern design between Anduo Tibetan area and Kangba Tibetan area. Kangba Tibetan area (Yushu area) mostly retains the weaving skills of traditional Tibetan blanket, while Anduo Tibetan area integrates Tibetan and Chinese culture in pattern design, with ingenious conception, harmonious tone and unique style.
Jiaya Tibetan blanket belongs to Anduo Tibetan blanket. Its main producing areas are Jiaya village and Shangxinzhuang in Huangzhong County, 26 km away from Xining City, Yushu, Hainan, Haibei, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and guide, Ping'an, Ledu, Huangyuan counties around Xining city.
Tibetan wool is recognized as a high-quality raw material for carpet weaving in the world. Yaks in the Qinghai Tibet region not only account for two-thirds of the world's Yaks in quantity, but also have thick hair and good finish. The raw materials of Jiaya Tibetan blanket are naturally raised Tibetan wool, cashmere, yak cashmere and camel hair. Through low-temperature dyeing, low-temperature washing and other processes, the finished product has the excellent quality of bright color, good elasticity and no decolorization and hair loss. There are 14 series and more than 70 varieties of Jiaya Tibetan carpets, which are made by the method of chain knitting. The surface of the carpets is thicker, about 15 mm or more. At the same time, it retains the characteristics of traditional Tibetan carpets that the edges are not entangled.
