Brief introduction of Wennan CI:
Applicant: Susong County, Anhui Province
Wennan CI is a kind of local opera produced in the border area of Anhui, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces, also known as "wenciqiang" and "Wenqu opera". It is mainly popular in Susong County, Anhui Province, Huangmei County, Hubei Province and Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, with a history of nearly 300 years. After entering the stage of development and prosperity, the number of folk troupes of Susong Wennan CI increased rapidly, often performing the main opera and the whole opera. In its performance, it learns from the traditional lantern song and lantern dance, and adds the silk string accompaniment to form its own characteristics. Wennan's Ci poetry has rich music, flexible forms of expression, close to the bottom of the people's life, and is deeply loved by the popular audience. In the process of development, Wennan CI deeply influenced the surrounding local operas, and many artistic elements it contained were absorbed by the later Huangmei Opera, which played a role in promoting the reform and development of Huangmei Opera.
