Tiaohuapeng, commonly known as tiaohuapeng, is popular in changweigong and Juan Tangwei villages of Guanqiao Town, Huazhou City, Guangdong Province. It is a folk dance in Nuo Festival.
According to legend, tiaohuapeng has been handed down from generation to generation in Huazhou since the end of Ming Dynasty, and it has continued to this day.
After autumn harvest, villagers set up sheds in front of lawns, earth temples or ancestral temples to prepare for Nuo Festival. Four days before the ceremony, under the guidance and guidance of old Nuo dancers, men over 16 years old were selected from the village to sing and dance together.
On the same day, after burning incense to worship and receiving God's seat, he opened the shed door to perform Nuo dance. At that time, the village elders will issue orders, gongs and drums will sing together, and performers will put on masks carved from camphor wood and perform one by one according to "Keben", dancing and singing at the same time.
