Qingyang City, located in the east of Gansu Province, is one of the birthplaces of the Zhou Dynasty. There are many kinds of folk art in Qingyang, and the most popular and representative is Qingyang paper-cut.

Qingyang paper-cut is closely related to local folk customs and life. Most of its authors are working women. It has two main styles of Qianyuan and Shanchuan. The paper-cut of mountains and rivers is simple in shape and extensive in cutting method. Its content follows the decorative patterns of the original totem, which contains the cultural and artistic symbols of the early Chinese nation and the philosophy of yin and Yang. The paper-cut of Qianyuan pays attention to neat and symmetrical, delicate and smooth lines, and its works are mainly historical and traditional contents and decorative patterns of life, with strong realism.

Qingyang paper-cut shows distinct artistry, extensive popularity and practicality. It reflects the humanistic and historical characteristics of Longdong farming culture. It has the research value of history, folklore, sociology and so on. It plays a link role in cultural exchanges.
