Mila gahei is the most famous folk poem of Dongxiang People. It was born in Ming Dynasty and has been passed down by the Dongxiang People for more than 500 years. The long poem tells of a young hunter named miragahei who, on the eve of his marriage, departs from his beloved fiancee, mazhilu, and goes to the front in order to protect his family and defend his country. Eighteen years later, miragahei came home to see his fiancee being bullied by robbers. He defeated the robbers and lived a happy life with mazhilu.
This long poem has more than 500 lines, which can be said and sung. It reflects the unyielding struggle spirit of Dongxiang People and the beautiful ideal of yearning for peace and pursuing a free and happy life. As an oral history textbook reflecting the roots of Dongxiang People, miragahei also fully demonstrates the simplicity and simplicity of Dongxiang folk literature and language, which has a strong artistic charm.
Miragahei not only occupies an important position in the history of Dongxiang culture, but also has a place in the history of Chinese minority literature. Nowadays, there are fewer and fewer old artists singing milagahei, which need to be protected.
