From the opposite point of view, refute each other

In the debate, we make use of the polysemy of things, take the other side's case as the argument, take the meaning from the opposite angle, and refute the other side's point of view. This method is also called case reversal. At the first international (Chinese) college debate, in the debate on whether human nature is evil or good, the Taiwan University team emphasized that everyone has good roots, so they can lay down their butcher's knife and become a Buddha. Fudan University team immediately took the other party's argument and took the opposite side of the argument to explain that human nature is "originally evil", and put forward a question that the other party had never thought of and could not answer: "if human nature is originally good, how can people pick up the butcher's knife?" When the other side was tongue tied, there was a burst of warm applause. Another example is that a member of the Taiwan University team believes that the reason why we formulate punishment systems such as laws is because of the "good root" of human beings. The Fudan team members immediately discussed the matter on the contrary and said, "yes, this just demonstrates our point of view. If human nature is good, what should we do with laws and regulations?" The other side is speechless.
