Applicant: Baota District, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province
The legend of Mulan is a popular legend among the people. The folk song Mulan poem (or Mulan CI) written by Wu Mingshi in the Northern Dynasty tells the story of Mulan's acting father to guard the border: "once I leave my father and mother, I stay by the Yellow River at dusk. Don't hear ye Niang call female voice, but hear the Yellow River water splash. Once I leave the Yellow River, at dusk I arrive at Heishantou. Don't hear ye Niang call female voice, but hear Yanshan Hu riding chirp. Thousands of miles to the military plane, Guanshan Du Ruofei. Shuo Qi passes through the watchman, and the cold light shines on the iron clothes. A general died in a hundred battles, and a strong man returned in ten years. " (Guo Maoqian's Yuefu Poetry Anthology · hengchuci · lianggujiao hengchuci) for more than 1000 years, this legend has been spread among the Chinese people for a long time.
Mulan's native place is not exactly recorded in history, which has been debated for generations. At least Bozhou in Anhui, Yucheng in Henan, Huangpi in Hubei, Yan'an in Shaanxi, etc. "Mulan is a native of Shaanxi. In the 12 years of his father's garrison in the frontier, people did not know that he was a daughter, so they gave him a poem to defend the frontier. " Huayuanyuan village, located at the foot of Wanhua mountain in Yan'an, on the west side of the Yellow River, is known as one of Mulan's hometown by the people. It is said that Mulan didn't want to be an official in the imperial court after returning from the war. She retired to her hometown and lived to 80 years old. She died of no illness and was buried in front of her hometown mountain by the imperial court. Here is also the running horse beam that she used to practice martial arts and archery. People cherish the memory of this legendary heroine, and now they renovate the "Mulan mausoleum" to pass on Mulan's name from generation to generation.
The legend of Mulan embodies hundreds of millions of people's reverence for Mulan. It is the best affirmation and praise of Mulan's love for his country and ambition to serve his country. Rescuing, excavating and protecting the legend of Mulan is of positive significance for inheriting the traditional culture and spirit of the Chinese nation and enhancing the sense of national pride and national cohesion.
