About Wanbang:
Applicant: Neixiang County, Henan Province
Wanbang is a rare local opera. It grew up and spread in Nanyang and the surrounding areas in the southwest of Henan Province. In the early days, people called it jijibang, laobangzi, Nanyang Bangzi and so on. Because Nanyang was called "Wan" in ancient times, Nanyang administrative office officially named it "Wanbang" in 1956. Wanbang is a kind of opera evolved from the introduction of Shaanxi Donglu Qinqiang (Tongzhou Bangzi) into Nanyang at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty. It has a history of more than 300 years.
Wanbang has more than 140 traditional plays, such as Wenjiang River, huaxinwan, heidachao, qimeian, xiachenzhou, taohuaan, maimiaolang, Yangjiajiang, dajinzhi and Huanghelou. Its music belongs to banqiang style with rich tunes. There are two kinds of singing styles: the original style and the fake style. In all kinds of banqiang styles, the original style matches the fake style. There are four common tunes: Adagio, Liushui, Erba and Sanban. Accompaniment instruments include Daxian, Erxian, Chuihu, Yueqin, suona, Xiaogong, Shoucheng, bangu, Daguo, Dacheng, Dagu, Zhangu, Zaomu Bangzi, etc. The main string of Wanbang is a large string in the early Qin opera. It has a high pitched voice, just like the singing of birds. It is matched with Zaomu Bangzi and has a unique style.
Wanbang has not only the high pitched and exciting of Shaanxi Bangzi, but also the smooth and standard of Central Plains music, and the euphemism and beauty of Chu Music. Its false tune used to set off feelings is high octave wordless line tune, which is unique in Wanqiang and has unique artistic value. Wanbang, which is nourished by Central Plains culture, Qin Jin culture and Chu culture, is a specimen of studying the early ecology of Henan Bangzi. Since the 1930s, due to the rise and rapid spread of Henan Opera and Henan Quju opera, Wanbang has gradually declined. Up to now, only a state-owned Wanbang professional troupe in Neixiang County is still struggling to inherit this ancient national art fire. It is necessary to seize it in time Rescue and maintenance.
