Cangnan single file puppet show is a unique form of puppet show, which can be performed in a theater and a full set of costumes. During the performance, the theater building was built on the spot, just like a delicate pavilion with carved beams and painted buildings. Only one artist manipulated dozens of puppet performances in the theater building. The performers use their brain, mouth, hands and feet to perform puppets with both hands. Sometimes they release their right hands to play drums, cymbals, boards and other musical instruments. They step on gongs and gongs with both feet. In their mouth, they use different voice changing methods to simulate the singing and narration of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Chou, Mo and other different characters. Through the cadence and rhythm of the voice, they can vividly express Xiao Dan's sorrow, praise and singing Xiaosheng's gentleness, Laosheng's vicissitudes, and clown's farce are both eloquent and humorous. Single stage puppet show focuses on skillful holding of objects and skillful fighting. With the skills of fingers, palms and wrists, artists vividly show the different personality characteristics of different characters and special effects such as crowning, appearing, walking on the stage, running horses, fighting, turning over, pouring tea and so on. There are more than 80 kinds of traditional operas and more than 300 copies of them, among which Huang enpeiyi and challenge arena are the representative works.

With the characteristics of beauty, dexterity, delicacy and convenience, single file puppet opera is unique in puppet opera, and it is an important object in the study of opera history and folk art. At present, this excellent form of performance has no successors and is in an endangered state, which is in urgent need of protection.
