Derong learning from Qiang is a form of folk song and dance performance for self entertainment, which is popular in Zigeng Township, Zishi village and acun village of Derong County, southwest of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It mainly uses Derong dialect performance, with Derong Guozhuang melody as the basic music and Derong Guozhuang dance steps as the basic dance steps. Derong Xueqiang has a long history, its origin time is different, some people think that it appeared thousands of years ago, across a number of stages of human social development, in Derong Zigeng area in the form of song and dance heritage so far. For thousands of years, Xueqiang people have been using Derong dialect and rhyme to spread, which has not been noticed until modern times.

Derong's dance is vigorous, simple and generous, and the combination of stepping and stamping is the main feature of its dance. When learning Qiang performance, the next step is powerful and the foot is clear. After the dancer bends down and changes the step point, this action turns to show the characteristics of flexibility and free and easy. The combination of stamping and stepping forms a unique charm of learning Qiang dance.
