Historical evolution

In 1958, Changtang township was transferred from Liucheng county to Liuzhou city. After Liuzhou city established the suburban government in 1984, Changtang township was transferred to the suburban government. In May 2000, the township was changed into a town, and in September 2002, the suburb was withdrawn and put under the jurisdiction of Liubei district.
