Shitan town
Shitan Town, subordinate to Hechuan District of Chongqing, is located in the southeast of Hechuan District, adjacent to Xiaomian town and Sanhui town in the East, Qingping town in the south, Shuangfeng town in the West and Guandu town across the Qujiang River in the north. It is 35 kilometers away from the people's Government of Hechuan District, with a total area of 53.85 square kilometers.
In 1728, Shitan town was changed from Shitan town to Shitan town in December 1993. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in the town was 26994. As of June 2020, Shitan town has one community and eight administrative villages, and the people's Government of Shitan town is located at No. 146, Longding street, Shitan community.
In 2018, there were 20 industrial enterprises in Shitan Town, including 4 Enterprises above Designated Size and 13 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In 1728 (the sixth year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty), shitanchang belonged to mingyueli in Hezhou, commonly known as shitanqiao. In 1906, it belonged to Longding town of Hezhou.
In 1926, Shitan township was established. In 1931, Shitan township was changed into Shitan town. In May of 1937, anshitan town was designated as a joint protection town. In December 1939, anshitan town was merged into Shitan town. In 1941, Shitan township was established.
After December 1949, anshitan town was established as the third district.
In July 1952, the third district was renamed Guandu District.
In April 1953, Nie's hometown was established from Shitan township.
In November 1956, Nie's hometown was merged into Shitan township.
In September 1958, anshitan town was merged into Shitan Township and Shitan commune was established.
At the end of June 1959, Shitan commune set up a safety commune.
In November 1968, Shitan commune changed its name to worker peasant commune.
In 1974, the original name of Shitan commune was restored.
In December 1983, Shitan commune was changed into Shitan township.
In December 1993, Shitan township was changed into Shitan town.

Shitan town is a mountainous area with deep hills and East trending terrain. In the south, it belongs to Huaying Mountain fold system landform. In the north, it is platform, flat dam and gentle slope landform that the crust uplifted in the process of extrusion and uplift. The ground elevation is generally 286 meters above sea level. The highest point is located in Gaoling mountain with an altitude of 569.1 meters. The lowest point is located by Xiqu river of Liuzhai village with an altitude of 196.7 meters.
