Xinqiao Town

Xinqiao Town belongs to Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the east of Jiangyin City, 25 kilometers away from Jiangyin municipal government, and the town government is located at 128 xinyuzhong road. The town covers an area of 19.6 square kilometers, with a total population of about 65000. It has nine administrative villages and five community neighborhood committees. In 2013, Premier Li Keqiang investigated Xinqiao Town and praised it as a bridge to create new life. Historical evolution

In ancient times, Xinqiao area belonged to Yangzhou in Kyushu.

At the end of Shang Dynasty, it was located in the north of Gouwu state.

In the spring and Autumn period, it belonged to the fiefdom of Yanling in wujizha.

During the Warring States period, it belonged to the Wu fief of Huang Xie, Emperor Chunshen of Chu.

In the Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Yanling township of Kuaiji Prefecture.

In the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Jiling County, piling county.

During the northern and Southern Dynasties, it belonged to Liangfeng County, Jiangyin county.

In the Sui Dynasty, it was incorporated into Jiangyin county.

Jiyang County was established in 620, the third year of Wude in Tang Dynasty, and Jiangyin county was merged in 626.

In the song, yuan and Ming Dynasties, Jiangyin county was divided into 17 townships, and Xinqiao belonged to Bailu township.

In the Qing Dynasty, yangshe town was designated in Bailu Township, and the original jurisdiction was renamed Masi town.

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the town was changed into a township, and the Township Office was stationed in nanxinqiao.

In 1930, Jiangsu Province set up sub townships. Masi township was divided into six townships: Masi, sushu, Tangshu, Beizhen, Lanxin and Qizhen, belonging to the Fourth District of Jiangyin county.

In April 1949, Jiangyin was liberated and subordinate to Chengdong district. In October of the same year, Masi township was divided into Xinqiao, sushu, Yuqiao, Tangshu and other townships, belonging to Huayang district.

In March 1956, Donglai township was merged into Xinqiao Township, Sanyu Township into sushu Township, and Longnan Township into Yuqiao township. Xinqiao and sushu Township belong to Changjing District, while Yuqiao Township still belongs to Huashu district. In September of the next year, Xinqiao and sushu were merged into Tangshu and Yuqiao into Huashu.

In September 1961, a total of 14 production teams were set up from Huashu, Tangshu and Beiyu people's communes to form Xinqiao people's commune, forming the present area.

In October 1983, it was renamed Xinqiao township.

In February 1991, Xinqiao township was removed and Xinqiao Town was built.

Xinqiao Town is located in the southeast of Jiangyin City, 27 kilometers away from Jiangyin City. It is 100 kilometers away from Shanghai in the East, 250 kilometers away from Nanjing in the west, 60 kilometers away from Suzhou and Changzhou, and more than 30 kilometers away from Wuxi and Changshu. It is adjacent to the urban area of Zhangjiagang.
