It has jurisdiction over 20 fishermen's villages, 13 farms, 5 fishery teams, 1 improved variety farm, 1 Road farm and 1 goldfish farm respectively. There are 1752 households with 5823 people in the township. Before liberation, the fishermen in Jiefang Township were floating and producing by boat. They made a living by catching wild fresh water products. Most of them used small fishing nets. Their labor productivity was very low and they lived in poverty. After liberation, through democratic reform, migrant fishermen in seven fishing areas of the county were organized to form mutual aid groups. In 1956, Fengpu, Yinggang, Dianhu, Dadian and maota fishermen's townships were developed, with 23 fishery production cooperatives under its jurisdiction. In October 1958, the fishery people's commune was established, and the mode of production was changed from simple fishing to both raising and catching. In 1986, there was a new middle school with 70 students, four primary schools with 331 students, and 412 people took part in all kinds of spare time cultural studies, which completely changed the situation that fishermen's children could not go to school on board all the year round. There are cultural stations, libraries, film projection teams and other cultural facilities in the township. Kindergartens have spread all over the villages. Sports activities are very active. There are basketball courts in every village. The rural basketball team won the championship in the 1985 Shanghai suburban farmers basketball match. The township has one health center and 19 village clinics. All villages drink tap water. For five consecutive years, it has been rated as the advanced collective of city and county family planning. There are 557 elderly fishermen in the township who enjoy retirement pension treatment and set up a home for the elderly, where the elderly can spend their old age.
