Gaoqiao Town, belonging to Nanpiao District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province, is located in the southeast of Nanpiao District, adjacent to qilihezi village and Tianqiao in Jinzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone in the East, along the Bohai Bay in the south, Tashan Township in Lianshan District in the West and Daxing Township in the north, with an administrative area of 55.71 square kilometers.

Gaoqiao Town was formerly known as Gaoqiao; in the early days of its establishment, it belonged to jinxiting District 4; in 2004, Gaoqiao economic development zone was abolished and Gaoqiao Town was restored; in 2011, Lianshan district was assigned to Nanpiao District. By the end of 2018, the population of Gaoqiao Town registered residence was 25479. As of June 2020, Gaoqiao Town has jurisdiction over 1 community and 10 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in Gaoqiao village.

In 2018, there were 38 industrial enterprises in Gaoqiao Town, including 2 above scale and 24 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

History of construction

Gaoqiao Town was formerly known as Gaoqiao.

At the beginning of its establishment, it belonged to four districts of jinxiting.

During the period of the Republic of China and the occupation of Northeast China, it was the seventh district.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was the Fifth District of Jinxi County.

In 1958, Gaoqiao commune was established.

In 1983, Gaoqiao commune was transformed into a township.

In 1984, Gaoqiao Town was changed.

In 1992, Gaoqiao economic development zone was established.

In 2004, Gaoqiao economic development zone was abolished and Gaoqiao Town was restored.

In 2011, Lianshan district was assigned to Nanpiao District.

History and culture

Gaoqiao Town, formerly known as gaoqiaopu, was the defense base of Ningjin in Ming Dynasty and the flood control area of Jinzhou City in Qing Dynasty. It gradually became a place where Manchu and Han people lived together. It is a long-standing ancient town. Gaoqiao got its name from Gaoqiao River in the West.
