Sanjiangkou is named for its location at the confluence of Jiulong River, Lantian River and Dongling river. It is located in the southeast of Rucheng County, bounded by Changjiang town and Chengkou town of Renhua county, Guangdong Province in the southeast, Jiulongjiang National Forest Park in the West and hot water town in the north. Historical evolution

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Shankou group of Changle Township, Guiyang County. In the eighth year of the Republic of China (1919), it belonged to the West First District of Rucheng County. In the 27th year of the Republic of China (1938), it belonged to the Dongling township of Rucheng County. In 1950, it belonged to the Sixth District of Rucheng County. It was called Dongling Township in the summer of 1956. Yuejin commune was established in 1958. In December of the same year, it merged with Reshui, Yijiang and Jilong to form Reshui commune.
