Linshanhe town is located in the north of Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province, adjacent to Xinzhou District of Wuhan city. The whole town covers an area of 116.5 square kilometers (2017), with an area of 5 square kilometers. It has 49 administrative villages, 399 villager groups, a total population of 62101 people (2017), 32000 mu of cultivated land, 43000 mu of mountain forest and 21000 mu of water surface.

The town got its name from its location. It is located on the North Bank of the upper reaches of Lingshan river. There are rolling hills on both sides of the upper reaches of the river. When it rains, the rain falls from the mountains on both sides and flows into the river, so it is called Lingshan river. Before liberation, it belonged to the first district. It was the Fourth District in 1949 and changed to lingshanhe District in 1950. In 1951, it was renamed the eighth District, and in 1952, it was restored to lingshanhe district. In 1957, it was changed into lingshanhe steering group. Dongfeng commune was established in 1958 and renamed linshanhe commune in 1959. In 1961, it was changed into lingshanhe district. In 1975, the former Hepu, Jinpen and mianlong communes were merged into fujiahe commune, and the former Xiehe, lishugang, xujialou and Huqiao communes were merged into linshanhe commune. In 1984, it was changed to lingshanhe district. In 1987, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged into linshanhe town and xiezihe township.

Linshanhe town is located in the north of Tuanfeng County, adjacent to Xinzhou District of Wuhan City in the West and fanggaoping town in the south, with a territory area of 116.5 square kilometers (2017). The town governs 49 administrative villages, 399 villager groups, with a total population of 62101 people (2017), and a cultivated land area of 32000 mu. It is the only one of the 100 key development towns in Tuanfeng County determined by the provincial people's government, and is listed as the provincial information construction demonstration town. Linshanhe town has a unique location and convenient internal and external transportation. Two main traffic arteries run through the town, namely national highway 106 and Beijing Kowloon Railway. Tuanfeng station of Beijing Kowloon Railway is located in the town, 45 kilometers away from Yangluo port, 50 kilometers away from Wuhan City, and only 45 minutes' journey to Wuhan Tianhe Airport. The two expressways, Wuying and Daguang, which are under construction, pass through the town, and the village roads between the villages in the town also extend in all directions, thus forming a fast, convenient, safe and smooth traffic network.
