Hudong town is a town under the jurisdiction of Lufeng City, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. It is located in the southeast coast of Lufeng City, bordering Jiaxi town in the East, Jieshi town in the west, Nantang town in the north, Nanhai town in the south, and 95 km away from Shanwei City. It has a subtropical marine monsoon climate. It is rich in natural resources, rich in grouper, lobster, mackerel, squid, hairtail, etc., which are supplied to the major markets of the city. It is a well-known "land of fish and rice" of Lufeng.

Historical evolution

On November 16, 1927, China's first Soviet regime was established in Hudong town.

Donghu township was established in 1957. Donghu commune was established in 1958. It was changed into a town in 1984.

According to research, Jieshi, qiaochong, Nantang, piyang, Hudong, Jiazi, Jiadong, Jiaxi, Bomei and other nine towns in Lufeng City of Shanwei City were assigned to jieyangshu of Longchuan County after the unification of Lingnan in Qin Dynasty. Jieyangshu was upgraded to a county in the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC), and other areas of Lufeng City were under the jurisdiction of Boluo County in the same period. In the sixth year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (331), the nine towns in the east of Lufeng belonged to Haining County of Yian County, and the rest belonged to Haifeng County of Dongguan county. In the early Ming Dynasty, Shifan capital of Haifeng County and Longxi capital were assigned to Chaozhou Prefecture, and soon Shifan capital was transferred to Huizhou Prefecture. Longxidu is roughly equivalent to Nanyang Mountain Area in the west of Puning City, and shifandu is Dongjiu town in the east of Lufeng City.

The ecological environment of Hudong town is very beautiful. Located in the coastal area 3 km west of Hudong Town, this area is dotted with 12 small natural lakes of different sizes, known as "natural 12 lakes". At present, there are only six lakes with uneven sizes. The largest area is 0.12 square kilometers, and the smallest area is only 0.0015 square kilometers. The lake water is clear and sweet, and the lake surface is like a mirror. The water quality of the twelve lakes is neutral soft water after sampling and analysis, and all indicators meet the national drinking water quality standards, which can be used for development and utilization. The most amazing thing is that twelve lake is only a few tens of meters away from the sea, and the floating sand is separated from each other, so the sea water can do everything possible to prevent it from penetrating. The strange twelve lakes make tourists forget to return.

Although Hudong town is an economically backward fishing town in Shanwei City, it is adjacent to the sea and influenced by the sea, so it has a rough and simple folk culture. Zheng Junxiong, Secretary of the Party committee of the town, found that Hudong sculpture is a genuine Hudong cultural masterpiece, a treasure of Lufeng folk culture, and also a leading folk art in Shanwei City. In July 2007, the province held the "first folk Qiqiao art competition" in order to explore the distinctive folk arts and strengthen cultural exchanges. After learning about it, Zheng Junxiong felt that this was a good opportunity to launch the "dough sculpture", a "unique skill in the east of Lake". He once again visited the door and handed the task to Xu muhui. Xu muhui never thought that the "dough sculpture" would attract so much attention from the leaders of the town, so he was grateful to speed up his creation. Finally, his entries "seafood set meal" and "colorful Hehan" (cooperating with Jieshi old artist Zheng layer) won the silver medal, which aroused people's great interest and attention in the competition.

The party and government leaders of the town rescue and carry forward the "Sea Fishing Song". Taking advantage of the opportunity of Guangdong Province to hold the "first water fishing song competition", Lai Hao, deputy secretary of the town Party committee, mobilized the whole town to invite out the living old fishermen one by one, and then find a teacher Chen who is familiar with the art to adapt the old fishermen's songs. Full preparation has made the fishing songs kualang noisy in the sea and Fishing Song duet attractive on the field, winning bronze and gold medals. Hudong's "Fishing Song on the sea" has left a deep and unforgettable impression.
