In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), halayugong township was under the jurisdiction of the first township of Korla County; in 1984, along with Korla County, it was merged into Korla City, and the commune was changed to township in the same year. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of Hala jade palace was 10648. In 2019, halayugong Township governs six administrative villages, and the people's government is stationed in halayugong village.
