Puwo town

Puwo Town, belonging to Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is named after its location in puguwei. It is said that during the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Xiu took refuge in the soil and used wheat straw to ventilate, so he called Puwo "ventilating three highlands". Puwo town is located in the central and southern part of Lingtai County, adjacent to Zhongtai town in the northeast, Linyou County in Shaanxi Province in the south, and Baili town in the West. The administrative area of Puwo town is 126.37 square kilometers.

Before 1949, it was a town. After 1949, Puwo district was established. In 1958, when the commune was established, it belonged to Zhongtai commune and Baili commune. In 1982, it was renamed Puwo commune. In 1984, it was changed to Puwo township. In July 2016, Gansu provincial government agreed to abolish Puwo township of Lingtai county and establish Puwo town. By the end of 2018, the population of Pu Wu town registered residence was 10601. As of June 2020, Puwo town has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages and the people's government is located in Wuxing village.

At the end of 2011, the per capita net income of farmers was 4153 yuan. By the end of 2018, Puwo town had 2 industrial enterprises and 9 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

Before 1949, it was a town.

After 1949, Puwo district was established.

In 1956, Puwo district was withdrawn to Koutai district.

In 1957, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, it belonged to Chengguan Township and Puwo Township respectively.

In 1958, when the commune was established, it belonged to Zhongtai commune and Baili commune.

In 1961, it belonged to Lingtai commune; in December of the same year, it established a commune, which followed the name of five-star agricultural cooperative at the time of cooperation, and was named five-star commune (based in Si Lang Dian).

In 1982, it was renamed Puwo commune.

In 1984, it was changed to Puwo township.

In July 2016, Gansu provincial government agreed to abolish Puwo township of Lingtai county and establish Puwo town.

Puwo town is located in the central and southern part of Lingtai County, adjacent to Zhongtai town in the northeast, Linyou County in Shaanxi Province in the south, and Baili town in the West. The administrative area of Puwo town is 126.37 square kilometers.

The landform of Puwo town is the alternation of mountains, rivers and plateaus. The terrain inclines from south to north, with an average altitude of 1100-1350 meters. The whole terrain is shaped like a phoenix claw, which is basically composed of the East, middle and West tableland divided by two large gullies. The East tableland is slightly wider, the middle tableland is second, the West tableland is narrower, and the tableland surface is broken and narrow.
