Jiajia means "gray white" in Tibetan. It used to be Gaby. The township was established in 1964, the commune was changed in 1970, the township was restored in 1982, and laga township was merged into Jiajia town in 1988. It has five village committees (Jiapu village, Jiecun village, Daqiong village, tiwuzhuona village and Dasang Village) There are eight natural villages.
