Pengcuolin Township

Pengcuolin Township, Razi County, Xigaze City, Tibet, is under the jurisdiction of Razi county. In May 1988, when the district was withdrawn and the township was built, Pengcuolin township was built by merging five townships originally belonging to pengcuo forest region. Township government in Pengcuolin, located in the northeast of the county, 70 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 663.64 square kilometers and has a population of 4373 (2017). Historical Site

Pengcuolin Temple: located in Pengcuolin Township on the South Bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River. It was founded in 1614 under the leadership of doronata. After the completion of the temple, it was named dadanpengcuolin temple. After 1649, during the reign of the fifth Dalai Lama, the Gelug Sect gained power and changed the name of the temple to Gandan Pengcuolin temple. Pengcuolin temple is a large-scale temple with a wall outside. The center of the temple is mainly composed of cuokang hall, covering an area of 1700 square meters, surrounded by 16 small Lacans. The main hall is built in layers from west to east by using the natural slope of the terrain. The appearance of the hall is five layers, but it is actually three layers. There are statues of zongkaba, the tenth Panchen Lama and the founder of the temple, doronata. The construction of Pengcuolin temple can be divided into three stages: the first stage is to build the cuokang temple, the second stage is to build 16 small Lacans, and the last stage is to build tuqiqinlacans on the top of the mountain and the small halls on the mountain. It has gone through 12 years. Tuqiqinlakang is also called Guanyin hall. In Pengcuolin temple, there are not only rich and colorful mural art, but also many cultural relics, jade, more than 150 stone sculptures, more than 60 Buddha statues cast in gold and copper, as well as porcelain, wood carvings and scriptures. These are important cultural objects for the study of Tibetan culture and Buddhism.
