Shenzhou prison in Hebei Province

Shenzhou prison in Hebei Province was built in 1970 near gaoguzhuang village, Shenzhou City, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. It was originally called the third prison in Hebei Province, and later renamed Shenzhou prison. The prison is mainly responsible for the detention and transformation of felons, with more than 4000 prisoners in custody.

Prison profile

Shenzhou prison is divided into three parts, one is the production area, where prisoners work. Some of them are living quarters, which have been transformed into buildings, where prisoners live after work. The other part is the agricultural team, with more than 1000 mu of land and facilities such as fish ponds and greenhouses. At present, agricultural teams are contracted to individuals. The prison covers an area of more than 2000 mu, with high walls, power grids and guard towers. Shenzhou prison is an old prison with poor basic conditions. It looks very shabby. Most of the iron paint on the gate falls off. Some reporters describe it as "dilapidated" after arriving at the scene. at present, the basic construction of the new prison on the south side of the old prison has been completed and gradually relocated. The new prison has better conditions and will completely replace the old prison in the future.

Prison break

The escape incident happened at about 6 am on September 11, 2011. Wang Zhenqing (male, born on February 10, 1968, Han nationality, primary school culture, native place: Wangzhai village, Wangzhai administrative village, hugang Township, Dancheng County, Zhoukou City, Henan Province) escaped from prison. He was convicted of theft in June 2010 and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in January 2011. later, with the cooperation of Hebei and Henan police, he was arrested on September 24, 2011. the prison administration of Hebei Province said the cause of the escape was under investigation. According to Hebei Province prison security and stability responsibility certificate, will be in accordance with the relevant provisions of serious treatment, will not tolerate.

On December 10, 2019, it was rated as "advanced collective of Hebei Province in the middle period of the Seventh Five Year Plan for Law Popularization" by Hebei Provincial Leading Group Office of law publicity and education.
